Trust Bank PLC organised the “Student Banking Conference-2026” at the Zilla Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in Sylhet recently, bringing together students and teachers from across the district to promote financial literacy and savings habits among young people. The event, held under the directives of Bangladesh Bank and in coordination with all scheduled banks operating in Sylhet, was attended by more than 400 participants.
The bank acted as lead organiser of the initiative, which was designed to encourage responsible financial behaviour among students and strengthen awareness of student banking services across educational institutions in the region, according to a statement in a press.
Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Sylhet Office Khaled Ahmed attended the programme as chief guest, while Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer of Trust Bank PLC Akhlasur Rahman Bhuiyan presided over the event.
Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank Head Office Md Iqbal Mohasin and Deputy Director (College), Secondary and Higher Education, Sylhet Region Mohammad Abdul Kadir also attended the programme as special guests.
Speakers at the conference emphasised the importance of developing a savings mindset from an early age, highlighting the benefits of student banking schemes and offering practical guidance on building responsible financial habits for long-term financial security.
They noted that early exposure to formal banking systems can help students adopt disciplined financial practices and contribute to broader financial inclusion efforts in Bangladesh.
Trust Bank said the programme reflects its ongoing commitment to financial inclusion and youth engagement through structured awareness initiatives in collaboration with the central bank and education authorities.
