US President Donald Trump on Thursday described the agreement with Iran to end the war as a “victory” for the United States, dismissing growing criticism, including objections from some members of his own Republican Party.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump rejected claims that Washington would provide Iran with a $300 billion payment under the agreement.
“There is no $300 billion payment to Iran by the US. That’s fake news,” he wrote.
Trump said the agreement would benefit the United States through lower oil prices and what he described as a successful outcome for Washington.
“All there is for the US is success, lower oil prices and victory,” he said, while also pointing to stock market performance and accusing political opponents of spreading propaganda.
The remarks came as debate continued over the agreement reached to end the conflict between the United States and Iran.
