Routine maintenance work on the Karnaphuli Tunnel will result in controlled traffic movements and diversions from 25 February to 28 February, according to a notice issued by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) on Wednesday.
The BBA stated that traffic will be diverted as necessary through either the ‘Patenga to Anwara’ or the ‘Anwara to Patenga’ tube between 11pm and 3am during this period.
Commuters using the tunnel during these hours may experience brief delays at both ends of the facility.
Depending on the volume of existing traffic, passengers might be required to wait for a minimum of five to a maximum of ten minutes. The authority clarified that these measures are being implemented to facilitate essential routine maintenance tasks for the tunnel infrastructure.
