A joint eviction operation led by the Forest Department successfully recovered forestland valued at Tk3 crore in the Bhawal National Park Range on Monday.
The drive targeted illegal constructions in the Baupara Beat area, resulting in the removal of 61 unlawful structures, including buildings, shops, and other establishments built by 48 encroachers, according to a Forest Department press release.
The operation was conducted with support from the Gazipur District Administration and involved the Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police, and Forest Department personnel.
Around 1 acre of reserved forestland in Bahadurpur Mouza, covering CS Dag No 254, 267, and 303, was reclaimed during the operation.
Officials noted that similar coordinated drives will continue in the future to safeguard forestland and promote environmental conservation.
