Grameenphone, the largest telecom operator in Bangladesh, has launched fifth-generation (5G) services in every divisional headquarters, making it the first company in the country to achieve this milestone, the operator announced in a press release. The rollout is seen as a significant step toward advancing digital connectivity and supporting Bangladesh’s Smart Nation vision.
The announcement came from Grameenphone’s Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman, through the company’s official Facebook page. He described the move as a historic leap forward, underscoring the company’s commitment to delivering future-ready technologies to communities across the nation.
Azman said that the expansion of 5G will provide not only faster and more reliable mobile networks but also open doors for innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital solutions that can shape Bangladesh’s future. “This achievement is part of our ongoing mission to connect people to what matters most and to create opportunities that foster growth, productivity, and progress nationwide,” he stated.
He also congratulated Grameenphone’s customers, crediting them as the driving force behind the company’s efforts, and shared his excitement about leading Bangladesh into the next era of digital transformation.
Acknowledging the role of policymakers, Azman thanked the government and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) for their cooperation, which made the launch possible.
