DBL Ceramics’ TileChalk campaign has won Merit Awards in both the Green Pencil and Sustainable Development Goals Pencil categories at The One Show 2026.
With this achievement, DBL Ceramics has become the first Bangladeshi ceramics brand to receive recognition at this level on the global creative stage, further strengthening its position as an industry leader in sustainability-driven innovation, reads a press release.
Prior to this global milestone, the campaign had already gained international recognition, winning awards at Spikes Asia, ADFEST, and The AdForum PHNX Tribute 2026.
TileChalk is a sustainability initiative that demonstrates a circular economy model in practice. It converts ceramic sludge—waste generated during tile production—into classroom chalk. The initiative addresses two key challenges simultaneously: reducing harmful industrial waste and helping alleviate the shortage of learning materials in underprivileged schools.
To expand its impact, the TileChalk formula has been made open-source, enabling other manufacturers to adopt and use the process freely.
Commenting on the achievement, Mohammad Bayazed Bashar, chief business officer of DBL Ceramics, said,
“We are truly happy and humbled by this recognition. We started this journey to solve an internal process challenge and we never expected it to reach such a global stage. Awards are encouraging but our real success is ensuring zero dumping at our factories and delivering learning tools to underprivileged children. We are proud to represent Bangladesh on this platform and we will continue working on sustainable solutions that create real value beyond business.”
The Merit Award at The One Show highlights that creativity extends beyond advertising and communication, also addressing real environmental and social challenges.
TileChalk stands as an example of how industrial waste can be transformed into a resource for education and environmental benefit. DBL Ceramics remains committed to advancing sustainable innovation and meaningful impact.
