The government has appointed three lawyers of the Supreme Court as prosecutors to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to conduct cases.
The newly appointed prosecutors are Md Magfur Rahman Sheikh, Mohammad Oli Mia, and Barrister Rafiul Islam. The Solicitor Wing of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.
According to the notification, signed by Deputy Solicitor Muhammad Shahadat Hossain, Md Magfur Rahman Sheikh has been appointed with the rank of Deputy Attorney General.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Oli Mia and Barrister Rafiul Islam have been appointed with the status of Assistant Attorney General.
Earlier, on 9 March, the government appointed Supreme Court lawyers Marjina Raihan Madina and Zahirul Amin as prosecutors to the tribunal. With the latest recruitments, the ICT prosecution team currently has 19 members
