Police arrested three alleged drug traders with yaba tablets and heroin during separate anti-narcotics drives in Munshiganj on Thursday night.
The district Detective Branch (DB) disclosed the matter in a press release on Friday morning.
According to the statement, DB police arrested Yasin Dhali, 32, with 100 yaba tablets from an open space in front of Sultan Cold Storage office in the Khaskandi area on the outskirts of Munshiganj town.
In another raid, police detained Monir Hossain Poran, 40, with 600 yaba tablets from in front of Palar Bari in Uttar Balashur area of Srinagar upazila.
During a separate operation in Panhata village under Munshiganj sadar, DB police arrested another alleged drug trader, Arif alias Badsha, 40, with 60 packets of heroin.
District Detective Branch Sub-Inspector Dipankar Kundu said police recovered the heroin from a white polythene bag hidden inside the fold of Arif’s lungi.
During initial interrogation, Arif told investigators that he had been buying heroin and other narcotics from another accused, Edison, who remains absconding, and selling them in different areas of Munshiganj for a long time, the officer said.
Police said drives were underway to arrest Edison.
