Police arrested three men with machetes in the capital’s Adabor area on Saturday afternoon while they were allegedly preparing to commit a robbery.
The arrestees were identified as Md Shakil, 25, Md Nayan Matubbar, 28, and Md Yasin, 25.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Adabor Police Station raided the Mehedibag Housing Khalpar area at around 1:45pm, police said.
Officers recovered three steel machetes from their possession.
During preliminary questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted their involvement in a mugging near the entrance to Adabor Road 13 at around 11:45pm on Friday.
Police said the three had previous criminal records and were accused in several cases filed with different police stations.
Legal proceedings against them were under way.
