A three-day free medical campaign and medicine distribution programme began in Lalmonirhat on Sunday to take essential healthcare services to Ansar members as well as poor and underprivileged people at the grassroots level.
The campaign was inaugurated at noon at the Saptibari Degree College ground in Aditmari Upazila, organised by the Ansar and Village Defence Party.
Speaking at the opening discussion, Rangpur Range Deputy Director General of the Ansar and Village Defence Party Mohammad Abdul Awwal stressed the importance of such initiatives in serving humanity and extending healthcare to those living in remote areas.
Among others who addressed the programme were 34 Ansar Battalion Director Kamruzzaman, Lalmonirhat Ansar and Village Defence Force District Commandant Shahidul Islam, and Dreamers Consultation and Research Chief Medical Coordinator and medicine specialist Assistant Professor Dr Mohammad Elias.
Officials and employees from different levels of the district Ansar and Village Defence Party were present at the event.
The medical campaign is receiving technical and specialist support from Dreamers Consultation and Research, with services being provided over three days.
Doctors are offering consultations for eye, ear, nose and throat, dental and general diseases, alongside free diagnostic tests including diabetes, urine, kidney function, blood haemoglobin, thyroid, vitamin D and C-reactive protein.
Special physiotherapy services are also being provided for patients suffering from joint and muscle pain, while prescribed medicines are being distributed free of cost.
On the first day, hundreds of poor and vulnerable people from the surrounding areas, alongside members of the Ansar and Village Defence Party, received free treatment, with locals expressing satisfaction at having access to quality healthcare services close to their homes.
