The principal Eid‑ul‑Adha congregation in Chattogram city was held Thursday morning at the historic Jamiatul Falah Maidan, drawing thousands of worshippers in a spiritually charged atmosphere.
The first and main jamaat began around 7am under a massive pandal covering nearly 65,000 square feet. Devotees from across the city gathered in long rows to offer Eid prayers and celebrate the holy occasion with devotion and festivity.
Hazratul Allama Alhaj Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi, Khatib of Jamiatul Falah Mosque, led the congregation.
Following the two‑rakat Eid prayers, he delivered a sermon stressing the significance of sacrifice in Islam, the proper rules for slaughtering sacrificial animals, and the importance of distributing meat among relatives, neighbours, and the poor.
A special munajat was offered seeking peace, prosperity, and well‑being for the country, the nation, and the Muslim Ummah. Worshippers then exchanged Eid greetings and embraced one another in the spirit of brotherhood and unity.
Authorities undertook extensive measures to ensure comfort and security. Around 140 ceiling fans, 60 stand fans, 70 microphones, and 30 CCTV cameras were installed across the venue. Law enforcement personnel remained deployed for crowd management and overall security.
The second Eid jamaat at the Maidan was held at 8am, led by Hafez Maulana Mohammad Ahmadul Haque, Senior Pesh Imam of Jamiatul Falah Mosque.
Beyond Jamiatul Falah, nine mosques across the city hosted separate Eid congregations under Chattogram City Corporation supervision.
Another major jamaat was held at 8am at the gymnasium ground adjacent to Chattogram District Stadium, organised by the Central Eid Jamaat Committee and the district administration. That congregation was led by Allama Syed Abu Noman, former principal of Baitush Sharaf Adarsh Senior Kamil Madrasa.
Following prayers, Muslims across Chattogram performed Qurbani, sacrificing animals in remembrance of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his devotion to Almighty Allah.
Families began preparations from early morning, with sacrificial meat distributed among relatives, neighbours, and underprivileged people throughout the day.
While many residents travelled to village homes to celebrate with family, city dwellers also observed Eid in a joyful and festive atmosphere.
