Amid rising tensions surrounding the upcoming Chattogram University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) election, a significant organizational decision was made by the central leadership of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).
Mohammad Mamun ur Rashid Mamun, the Senior Vice President of Chattogram University Chhatra Dal, has been expelled for life due to violations of organizational discipline and dereliction of duties.
This expulsion was confirmed in an official notice signed by JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir on Sunday. The notice cited that Mamun ur Rashid Mamun was involved in activities that went against the organization’s principles and discipline, and had failed in his responsibilities, as revealed by an internal investigation.
Additionally, the central committee has directed all JCD leaders and workers to sever any ties with the expelled member.
With the CUCSU election drawing nearer, political analysts believe this decision will further intensify the internal dynamics of the organization. Many feel that expelling a senior leader so close to the elections may have a detrimental impact on JCD’s campaign and organizational standing.
Sources within the party reveal that Mamun ur Rashid Mamun, dissatisfied with the exclusion of many dedicated workers from the JCD panel for the upcoming CUCSU elections, began supporting independent candidates, which eventually led to his expulsion.
