A teenage girl has allegedly been gang-raped at Kalabagan in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
Quoting family members, police said the girl’s mother sent her to a nearby shop to buy bread at around 8pm on 10 June.
On her way, she was allegedly taken by three young men, including Zakaria and Anik, to the fourth floor of a nearby building, where she was assaulted.
The accused also reportedly threatened to kill her family if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
The girl did not initially report the matter, but later told her mother about the incident two days afterwards after falling ill.
She was subsequently taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital for treatment.
Hospital Superintendent Ratan Kumar Dhali said the allegation of rape would be confirmed after the results of the medical examination are received.
Ashuganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury said no written complaint had yet been filed, adding that legal action would be taken once a formal complaint is submitted.
