BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has urged the international community to increase pressure on Israel to end its ongoing aggression against Palestinians.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday, Tarique made this call, condemning Israel’s settlement expansion plan in the West Bank.

He stated that the global community should urge the International Court of Justice to immediately declare that the Israeli government is committing genocide in Gaza during this time of horrific repression of the Palestinians.

Bangladeshis around the world have always expressed solidarity with their Palestinian brothers and sisters, continuously standing against the violent colonial repression and attempts to erase their existence with pride, Tarique noted.

Recent reports about Israel’s plans to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank, which would effectively make a future Palestinian state impossible, are heartbreaking. Under Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership, the ongoing racial discrimination and attacks on the people, culture, land, and history of Palestine can only be described as genocide and planned ethnic cleansing. This is abhorrent, said the BNP leader.

Tarique further stated that many Bangladeshi citizens live and work in the Middle East and Gulf regions.

He expressed concern that Israel’s repressive policies could destabilise the entire region, posing a threat to the security and stability of expatriate Bangladeshis.
