The Bangladesh Cricket Board is getting ready for its next election. On 27 September, the Election Commission distributed nomination forms for director positions. Forms were available from 10 AM to 5 PM. Yesterday, a representative collected Tamim Iqbal’s form. Today, the same representative submitted it.
A total of 60 candidates collected forms across three categories. In Category-2 for club organizers, 32 candidates took forms. Category-1 had 25 forms collected, and Category-3 had 3 forms. In Category-1, candidates from different divisions took forms as follows: Dhaka 3, Chattogram 5, Rajshahi 4, Sylhet 3, Rangpur 6, and Barishal 1.
Former BCB director Iftekhhar Rahman Mithu bought a nomination as an independent candidate. Former Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Khaled Masud Pilot collected a nomination from Category-1. Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal bought his nomination from Club Category-2.
Tamim became a councillor from Dhaka’s historic club Old DOHS. In Category-3, councillor nominations were collected by Debbrat Pal from Jahangirnagar University and Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir from Chattogram University. Former cricketer Zulfikar Ali Khan collected a form from Khulna District Sports Association. Abdur Razzak became a councillor from Khulna Division.
Tamim collected his nomination from Category-1 to contest the BCB election. Current BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul also collected a nomination. From Dhaka Division, Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Redwan Fuad from Jamalpur collected nominations. From Rajshahi Division, Mukhlesur Rahman Shamim and Mohammad Hasibul Alam took forms. From Chattogram Division, Ahsan Iqbal and Mir Helal will contest for the director position; both collected forms.
Nominations must be submitted today, 28 September. Candidates can withdraw their forms by 1 October. The final list will be published at 2 PM that day. The election will take place on 6 October at a hotel in Dhaka from 10 AM to 4 PM. Results will be announced at 6 PM. The president and vice-president election will be held at 7:30 PM on the same day.
