Tamara Hasan Abed, Managing Director of BRAC Enterprises, has been appointed as a Commissioner to the Future of Development Cooperation Coalition (FDCC), BRAC said in a press release on Wednesday.
The global initiative brings together leaders from government, finance, business, and civil society to develop innovative solutions to economic transformation, climate change, technological disruption, and inclusive growth.
The Coalition, co-hosted by the African Center for Economic Transformation and the Center for Global Development, aims to address critical global challenges and redefine development cooperation. It is co-chaired by Yemi Osinbajo, former Vice President of Nigeria, and Arancha González Laya, Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain.
Abed’s leadership in BRAC Enterprises has been instrumental in advancing market-based solutions that address development challenges. Under her guidance, BRAC’s social enterprises have expanded their reach and impact, creating sustainable livelihoods and supporting communities across Bangladesh.
Her appointment underscores Bangladesh’s growing role in global development discussions and highlights her commitment to integrating business innovation with social outcomes.
The Coalition’s work will focus on aligning development partnerships with country priorities, mobilising public and private resources, strengthening regulatory systems, and utilising innovation and technology to enhance development impact.
Commissioners will hold their inaugural meeting in Washington, during the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings.
Other Commissioners include prominent leaders such as Azucena Arbeleche from Uruguay, Shenglin Ben from China, Abigail Kajumba from Uganda, Joaquim Levy from Brazil, Shankar Maruwada from India, Rania Al-Mashat from Egypt, David Miliband from the United Kingdom, Jasandra Nyker from South Africa, and Daouda Sembene from Senegal.
