Sylhet Titans’ campaign came to an end after defeat to Rajshahi Warriors in the second qualifier, but the fallout has extended well beyond the result. In the aftermath of the loss, the franchise’s adviser Fahim Al Chowdhury made serious allegations of match-fixing, claiming the game had been compromised from within.
In a video message posted on his Facebook page, Fahim said he had received what he described as reliable and credible information suggesting that an individual involved in the match had deliberately acted against Sylhet. He also stated that the matter would not be allowed to rest and that steps would be taken to investigate the allegation.
“Today’s match has been deeply tainted for us,” Fahim said. “I have received trustworthy and verifiable information that someone involved in the match sold himself. He lied to us, betrayed Sylhet and deceived Sylhet Titans.”
Fahim insisted that the defeat was not a sporting loss but the result of dishonesty. “I will not let this end here. The issue will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible,” he said. “This loss came through complete betrayal. Those who watched the match will understand what I mean. This was not our defeat, this was completely compromised. This was fixing. Sylhet was betrayed.”
In the video, Fahim went further, linking the incident to broader concerns about the integrity of franchise cricket. “The person made a mistake. He touched the wrong place. He played with the emotions of Sylhet,” he said. “I already knew that the BPL, TPL and all of this involve betrayal and gambling.”
The allegations come at a sensitive moment for the tournament, with no official response yet from the league organisers or governing authorities.
