The Sylhet Education Board has recorded a pass rate of 58.33 per cent in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, marking a decline from the previous year.
According to the results released on Monday, the pass rate dropped from last year’s 68.57 per cent.
However, despite the lower overall pass rate, the number of students achieving a GPA-5 has increased.
This year, 3,836 students secured a GPA-5, compared to 3,614 in the preceding year.
Professor Bilquis Yasmin, the controller of examinations of the Sylhet Education Board, announced the results during a briefing held at the board’s conference room at 10am.
Data provided by the board reveals that a total of 89,079 students appeared for the examinations under the Sylhet Board this year.
Of the total candidates, 51,957 students passed. A gender-wise breakdown of the successful candidates shows that 19,889 are boys while 32,068 are girls.
