Syed Moin Uddin Ahmed, a veteran with 22 years of experience in the aviation industry, has officially assumed his new role as the deputy managing director (DMD) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Thursday.
The Ministry of Public Administration had confirmed his appointment in a notification last Tuesday. Alongside his extensive aviation background, Ahmed brings 15 years of specialised experience in accounts, management, and customer support.
He has a long history with the national flag carrier, having previously served in several key positions, including country manager for Biman’s London station from February 2004 to July 2007.
His other former roles at the airline include manager (cargo sales), organisation and method (O&M) officer, and assistant manager.
During his previous tenure at Biman, Ahmed demonstrated expertise in commercial operations planning, sales growth, station coordination, personnel management, and administrative operations.
He later moved to the United Kingdom, where he held significant responsibilities in the international private travel and aviation sectors.
In terms of academic qualifications, Ahmed holds a master’s degree in industrial psychology and advanced statistics from the University of Dhaka. He has also completed a diploma in Human Resource Management and various other professional training programmes.
In a statement issued by Bosra Islam, general manager (public relations), Biman Bangladesh Airlines extended its congratulations to the new DMD. The airline expressed its expectation that his leadership, skills, and experience will further accelerate the progress and prosperity of the national carrier.
