Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh, Reto Renggli visited the office of Dr Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, in Bashundhara, Dhaka, this morning for a courtesy call.

The meeting began at 9am and was followed by a breakfast gathering.

The Swiss Ambassador began by inquiring about Dr Shafiqur Rahman’s health, offering his wishes for a swift recovery.

They discussed a range of topics of mutual interest, including the current political and socio-economic landscape in Bangladesh. The conversation also touched upon the diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Switzerland, with a focus on trade and commercial ties.

Both parties expressed a positive outlook for the future of Bangladesh-Switzerland relations and shared hopes for increased cooperation across various fields.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Alberto Giovannetti, Counsellor and Head of Political, Economic and Communication Affairs at the Swiss Embassy, and Khaled Chowdhury, Senior Political, Economic and Press Officer.

On the other hand, Jamaat Ameer was accompanied by Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the Central Publicity and Media Department of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; Mubarak Hossain, Central Executive Council Member; and Professor Dr Mahmudul Hasan, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Ameer-e-Jamaat.
