The alleged gunman told authorities he intended to target officials linked to US President Donald Trump, reports CBS.
Citing two unnamed sources, CBS also said at least five to eight shots were fired during the incident.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when a suspect entered the hotel lobby around 00:35 GMT, trying to evade security officers and metal detectors. A security officer was shot at close range but survived after his bulletproof vest absorbed the impact.
The suspect, identified by law enforcement sources to CBS News as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California, was taken into custody at the scene.
