Following the success of the 2023 blockbuster “Surongo”, its sequel is now on the way, with director Raihan Rafi and actor Afran Nisho reuniting once again. The film is produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Ltd and is scheduled for release this December.
Released during Eid-ul-Azha in 2023, “Surongo” marked Afran Nisho’s big-screen debut. Produced by Shahriar Shakil, Nisho’s portrayal of “Masud” received widespread acclaim. Alongside its commercial success, the film also earned critical praise and went on to win eight categories at the National Film Awards.
The makers have confirmed that “Surongo-2” will continue the story from where the first film ended. The sequel is expected to feature a larger canvas, upgraded technology, international-standard production, and new surprises for audiences.
Director Raihan Rafi said “Surongo” remains one of the most significant milestones in his filmmaking journey. He noted that the audience’s response has brought both inspiration and responsibility. According to him, “Surongo-2” will not merely be a continuation of the previous story but an expansion of his cinematic universe, exploring themes of human darkness, desire, love, and survival on a much broader scale.
He further added that he wants audiences to view “Surongo-2” not just as a sequel, but as a new cinematic journey.
The film is currently in its pre-production stage. Details regarding the cast, crew, and shooting schedule will be announced soon.
