Dhaka experienced sudden heavy rainfall on Wednesday, with reports of rain emerging from various locations across the capital city.
The showers followed an earlier announcement by the Meteorological Department on Wednesday morning, which warned of countrywide thunderstorms and hailstorms over the next four days.
According to the met office, a low-pressure extension is currently positioned over West Bengal and its adjoining areas. Furthermore, the season’s normal low-pressure is situated in the South Bay of Bengal.
Forecast for the 24 hours starting Wednesday evening indicates that temporary gusty winds and rain accompanied by thunder may occur in one or two places across all eight divisions, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, and Rangpur.
There is also a possibility of scattered hailstorms in certain locations. During this period, both day and night temperatures across the country are expected to increase slightly.
Looking ahead to the 24-hour period starting Thursday evening, 19 March, the department predicts rain with thunder in several parts of the Sylhet division and in one or two locations in the remaining seven divisions.
Hailstorms remain a possibility in some areas, though nationwide day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
