The stepbrothers of Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, lawmaker from Sunamganj-2 (Dirai-Shalla), have been made accused of forcibly registering his property deeds by exploiting his illness.
MP Nasir’s wife Parvin Akhter filed a case at the Sunamganj District and Sessions Judge Court on Monday. Bench assistant Muhit Lal Chand Mithu confirmed the filing.
According to the case statement, Nasir’s stepbrothers — Moin Uddin Chowdhury, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury and Mosleh Uddin Chowdhury — allegedly planned long ago to embezzle his assets and deprive his two wives and children of their rightful property.
Five others were also named in the case. They are Amirul Islam of Matargaon village in Dirai upazila, Saiful Chowdhury of Puraton Korngaon village, deed writer Mujibur Rahman of Tol Bausi village, Tajul Islam of Koliar Kapan, and moharrar (clerk) Mumtaz Begum.
Parvin further alleged she was physically assaulted when she went to their Dirai residence in January 2022.
The case statement said that on 25 January 2022, two employees of the Dirai Sub‑Registry Office were brought to the house disguised as registration officers. At the time, Nasir was physically ill and mentally unstable. When asked to sign the deeds, he refused, but was then threatened with death at knifepoint.
It was also mentioned that Nasir’s other wife, Shely Chowdhury, tried to intervene but was also allegedly threatened with death.
Taking cognisance of the case, Judge Md Jasim directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the allegations and submit a report.
When contacted, accused Moin Uddin said, “The sub‑registrar registers deeds. My sister and Nasir ‘s actual wife were aware of the matter. I do not know about any case being filed. We will respond legally once we find out.”
