A total of 116,676 candidates secured the highest grade of GPA‑5 in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations this year, with female students significantly outperforming their male counterparts.
ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Minister for Education and Primary and Mass Education, announced the results around 10am on Monday.
Among the nine general education boards, the average pass rate is 64.05 per cent, down 3.99 percentage points from last year’s 68.04 per cent.
However, the number of GPA‑5 achievers has declined notably this year. The 116,676 candidates who secured the top grade represent a decrease of 22,056 from last year, when 139,032 candidates achieved GPA‑5.
According to official data, the average pass rate across all 11 education boards stands at 62.25 per cent. A total of 116,676 candidates achieved GPA‑5 across the 11 boards.
Of the GPA‑5 achievers, 63,896 are girls and 52,780 are boys. This means 11,116 more female students secured the top grade than their male counterparts.
The number of GPA‑5 recipients under the nine general education boards also declined, falling to 106,009 from 125,018 last year.
