A former student of Comilla University (CoU) died of dengue fever at Central Hospital Limited in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The deceased, Suman Sheikh, was a student of the Department of Finance and Banking at CoU during the 2016–17 academic session. He was from the Bikrampur area of Munshiganj district. He passed away around 10:45pm while undergoing treatment.

Suman’s death was confirmed by his classmate, Shahriar Ahmed.

According to Shahriar, Suman fell ill and was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital on 8 October. Initially believing it to be a general illness, he received treatment there until 10 October. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Central Hospital Limited in Dhaka, where he was kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) from the time of his admission.

Shahriar said he and Suman’s brother-in-law were at the hospital and had informed the family of his death.
“Family members are on their way. We are preparing to take the body home. If possible, we will leave tonight, depending on when the family arrives and how long the hospital formalities take,” he said.
