Garment workers from several factories blocked a road in Azampur area of Uttara in the capital, demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk30,000.
The blockade halted traffic on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The workers began their protest by taking to the road around 11am on Wednesday. The protest lasted for two hours.
Rubel Haque, additional deputy commissioner of the Uttara Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the development.
He added that the workers later moved towards Dhaka airport, where they staged a demonstration.
Shahjahan Hossain, deputy commissioner (DC) of the Uttara Traffic Division, said the protesters had been staging demonstrations since Monday, pressing for several demands including raising the minimum wage to Tk30,000 per month.
