Police recovered the body of an unidentified man from a lake near Road 128 in the capital’s Gulshan-2 area on Thursday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Gulshan Zone Assistant Commissioner Shah Mustafa Tariquzzaman confirmed the recovery in the afternoon.
He said local residents spotted the body floating in the lake around noon and informed police.
Police subsequently recovered the body with the assistance of local volunteers.
The deceased, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, was wearing only trousers.
The Crime Scene Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is working to establish his identity, the police official said.
An investigation is also underway to determine the cause of death and how the body ended up in the lake.
