At the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, South Africa produced a commanding display to halt India’s record run, defeating the defending champions by 76 runs.

After five overs, South Africa were 31 for 3, while India were 29 for 3. Despite recovering from early setbacks, India could not match the Proteas’ explosive middle order. South Africa’s three powerful innings over the next 15 overs outscored India’s total for the entire innings.

In Ahmedabad on 22 February 2026, South Africa posted 187 for 7 in their 20 overs. India were bundled out for 111 while chasing 188, marking their lowest World Cup total since 79 against New Zealand in Nagpur in 2016 and their biggest World Cup defeat, surpassing the 49-run loss to Australia in Bridgetown in 2010.
