Tarique orders swift progress on Inner Circular Ring Road project

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed relevant authorities to accelerate the construction of Inner Circular Ring Road to alleviate traffic congestion in Dhaka metropolitan area.

He gave the directive while presiding over a progress review meeting on the project at Cabinet Division in Secretariat on Sunday.

During the meeting, the prime minister directed the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Local Government Division to jointly review existing project plans and speed up the construction work.

Emphasising the need for swift, visible progress, he called for identifying and removing current implementation bottlenecks, ensuring effective co-ordination among concerned agencies, and fixing a realistic timeframe to complete the project.

The meeting was attended by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam; State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam; State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Habibur Rashid Habib; Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam; and Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, alongside senior officials from relevant ministries and divisions.
