KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza, 23, is temporarily stepping back from the group to focus on her mental health and wellness, one week before the release of their new EP ‘Wild’.
KATSEYE announced the break on Friday, 7 August, saying Sophia will miss upcoming promotional activities following consultations with medical professionals.
She will receive extended rest and ongoing care, with her condition due to be reassessed in September.
Sophia said the decision was difficult but that “health has to come first”. She did not disclose a specific health issue but thanked fans and promised to return stronger.
Her break comes six months after groupmate Manon Bannerman took a temporary hiatus for her health.
KATSEYE performed without Manon at Coachella in April, while Sophia said in June that the door remained open for her return.
Sophia has previously spoken about her ADHD diagnosis and said she sees a psychiatrist, psychologist and therapist.
KATSEYE, formed through ‘Dream Academy’, debuted in 2024 and has two Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist
