Bangladesh Open University (BOU) held a quarterly coordination meeting on Wednesday to improve field-level services, speed up activities and resolve students’ problems more quickly.
Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan chaired the meeting at his conference room, reads a press release.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Md Serajul Islam, Treasurer Shaikh Rafiqul Islam, Registrar TM Ahmed Hossain, deans, directors and regional centre officials attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on increasing the use of technology, strengthening inter-office coordination, simplifying certificate correction, ensuring regular coordination at sub-regional centres and providing administrative support during examinations.
Participants also called for academic calendars for all schools, a staff transfer policy, regular training, stronger promotion of new programmes, lower admission fees for third-gender and female students, and technology-based measures to prevent examination malpractice.
“Within our limited manpower and financial resources, we will gradually resolve the problems on a priority basis,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He added, “BOU is not merely a certificate-producing factory; it is an institution for earning degrees. Ensuring quality education for students is our foremost priority.”
He also said an e-attendance system would be introduced soon and urged all concerned to ensure the successful completion of the university’s upcoming Sixth Convocation and University Day.
