Two people travelling on a motorcycle were killed after a truck struck their vehicle in Chattogram’s EPZ area on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Tamanna, a resident of Morelganj in Bagerhat, and Md Khalil, son of the late Golam Mostofa of the EPZ New Mooring Free Port area in Chattogram.
Tamanna worked at the Smart Jacket factory in the CEPZ, while Khalil reportedly worked as a Pathao motorcycle rider. Tamanna’s husband said she was scheduled to start work at 8am.
She left home in the morning and hired a ride-sharing motorcycle to travel to her workplace. When they reached Road No. 5 in the CEPZ area, a pickup truck hit the motorcycle, leaving Tamanna and Khalil seriously injured.
They were rescued and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors in the emergency department declared them dead.
Tamanna’s husband told the TIMES of Bangladesh, “I rushed to the hospital as soon as I heard about the accident. We have two young children. Our elder son is six years old and our younger daughter is four.”
Patenga Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Al Amin, who was on duty at the scene, asked our correspondent to visit the police station for information.
