Sonargaon University emerged champion of the Zia Inter-University T-10 Cricket Tournament after defeating Fareast International University in the final held at the Mirpur City Club ground in the capital.

A total of 32 public and private universities from across the country participated in the tournament, according to a press release.

In the final, Sonargaon University lost the toss and decided to bat first. In the allotted 10 overs, they set a target of 173 runs for their opponents, Fareast International University. Chasing the target, Fareast International

University could score no more than 124 runs while losing 5 wickets. As a result, Sonargaon University secured victory by 48 runs.

At the prize-giving ceremony following the match, the trophy was handed over to Sonargaon University captain Imran Hossain Jahir by Aminul Haque, BNP’s Sports Affairs Secretary, Convener of Dhaka North BNP and former national football team captain.

The event was attended by Zahed Parvez Chowdhury, tournament chairman and Member Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Krira Dal, and Azizul Bari Shipu, Advisor to the Trustee Board of Sonargaon University. Sonargaon University student Hridoy Sarkar was named Man of the Match.
