The Appellate Division has stayed the High Court order that granted bail to Mahmudul Hasan Mohin, the prime accused in the case over murder of scrap metal trader Lal Chand alias Sohag, who was beaten to death with a stone in front of Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.

The Chamber Court of Appellate Division Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed the order following a hearing on a petition filed by the state seeking a stay on the bail.

The court stayed Mohin’s bail for six months, meaning the accused will not be released from prison for the time being.
