Malayalam actor Saniya Iyappan has found an unexpected admirer for her latest music video after American rap icon Snoop Dogg shared the viral Kalyani remix on social media.
Saniya stars in the remix version of Kalyani, featuring playback singer Shreya Ghoshal. The track, created by independent artistes ARJN (Arjun Sunil), KDS (Kiran Das), FIFTY4 (Vishnu V) and RONN (Ron Vinod), has generated strong buzz online since its release, reports Hindustan Times.
The surprise endorsement came after Snoop Dogg’s son, Cordell C. Broadus, shared the remix on his Instagram Stories from executive producer Len Prasad’s page. Snoop later reposted the same video on his own Instagram Stories, drawing widespread attention from fans.
Reacting to the moment, Saniya shared a screenshot of Snoop’s post on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “Grateful,” alongside heart and sparkle emojis. Len Prasad also thanked Snoop and Cordell on social media for supporting the song.
Kalyani blends Malayalam lyrics with elements of R&B, Afrobeat and hip-hop. The original version, released in 2025, has surpassed 90 million streams on Spotify and became widely popular through Instagram dance reels. The remix, featuring Shreya Ghoshal and introducing Hindi lyrics, was released on 1 July. ARJN also promoted the release with a light-hearted Instagram Reel featuring the singer.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India in June about the song’s viral success, 25-year-old ARJN said he and his team avoid creating music solely to chase online trends. He said focusing only on numbers creates unnecessary pressure and can affect creativity.
Saniya began her career as a contestant on the dance reality show D2 – D4 Dance on Mazhavil Manorama, where she finished as the second runner-up. She made her acting debut as a child artiste in Balyakalasakhi in 2014 before landing her first lead role in Queen (2018). She later appeared in films including Lucifer, Sakalakalashala and made her Tamil debut with Irugapatru in 2023. She was last seen in L2: Empuraan and will next appear in the Malayalam film Varavu and the Tamil project Maddy.
