Jatiotabadi Jubo Dal has expelled approximately 300 leaders and activists across the country for their involvement in activities contrary to party discipline and ideology.
Abdul Monayem Munna, made the disclosure during a press conference held at city hotel in Nayapaltan on Wednesday. Speaking on the contemporary political situation and future plans, Munna declared a “zero tolerance” policy towards any conduct that tarnishes the image of the organisation.
“Jubo Dal believes in disciplined, democratic, and ideology-based political practice,” Munna said, adding that the organisation will not tolerate any illegal, immoral, or terrorist activities.
He further revealed that, in addition to organisational expulsions, necessary steps are being taken to bring the accused individuals under the purview of the law. He stressed that no individual or group would be permitted to use the organisation’s name for unlawful purposes.
During the briefing, the Jubo Dal president addressed what he termed a coordinated smear campaign and “propaganda” directed at the organisation following recent incidents.
He denied reports of internal bickering or chaos during party programmes, claiming such accounts were exaggerated and published without proper verification. He urged media professionals to ensure the accuracy of information before publication.
Regarding organisational reforms, Munna noted that following the announcement of the full Central Executive Committee, efforts are underway to revitalise party activities. Organisational teams are being formed to develop new leadership at the district and upazila levels to strengthen the grassroots.
The president also highlighted the social contributions of the Jubo Dal, including bridge construction and canal excavation projects in various regions.
Reflecting on the July-August uprising, he claimed that activists from 82 organisational units participated at great personal risk. According to Munna, 78 members of the organisation were martyred, hundreds were permanently crippled, and thousands more were injured during the movement.
The press conference was also attended by Jubo Dal General Secretary Muhammad Nurul Islam Nayon, Vice President Rezaul Kabir Paul, Joint General Secretary Billal Hossain Tarek, and Organising Secretary Kamruzzaman Jewel, among other central leaders.
