Commerce, Industries, Jute and Textiles Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir has announced that booth rents will be waived for small entrepreneurs participating in international trade fairs to help expand Bangladesh’s exports.
He made the announcement while speaking as the chief guest at a debriefing session on the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th China-Kunming Import and Export Fair 2026 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre, also known as Big Wave, in Purbachal, Dhaka.
The minister said small entrepreneurs played a vital role in Bangladesh’s export sector and that participation in international fairs was essential for promoting their products and entering global markets.
He said the government had taken special initiatives to make business easier for the public, particularly small entrepreneurs.
“The current government is a government of the people. We have taken special measures to facilitate trade and business, especially for small entrepreneurs,” he said.
Muktadir also said the validity of trade licences would be extended to five years and steps were being taken to allow businesses to obtain licences online from home.
Export Promotion Bureau Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif chaired the debriefing session.
Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan attended as the special guest.
Bangladesh Diversified Jute Goods Producers and Exporters Association President Md Rashedul Karim Munna and Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association Vice-President Md Nasir Khan also spoke.
