Professor Dr Md Sohel Rana of Pharmacy Department has been appointed as the new treasurer of Jahangirnagar University (JU).
A notification issued on Monday by Public General University Branch of Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, confirmed the appointment.
The appointment was made with the approval of the president and chancellor of the university, exercising the powers conferred by the Jahangirnagar University Act, 1973.
According to the terms of the appointment, Sohel Rana will hold the post for a tenure of four years starting from his date of joining or until the date of his retirement, whichever occurs earlier.
During this period, he will receive an honourarium equivalent to his current position, alongside other benefits as per the prevailing rules.
As part of the conditions, the new treasurer is required to reside on the university campus full-time. He will perform duties and exercise powers delegated to him by the vice-chancellor in accordance with the university’s laws and statutes.
The notification further specified that the president and chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary in the public interest.
