A Dhaka court has sent four members of a human skeleton trafficking ring to jail after police recovered 47 human skulls and a large quantity of human bones from the Tejgaon area of the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order on Tuesday.
The accused are Kazi Zahrul Islam alias Soumik, Md Abul Kalam, Asadul Munshi alias Jasim alias Ershad and Faisal Ahmed.
Prosecution Sub-Inspector Arif Reza confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement, Tejgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector Shahadat Hossain Nafis, the investigating officer, produced the accused before the court and sought an order to keep them in custody.
Police said they received a tip-off that human skeletons were being collected from a graveyard near Gate No 1 in Monipuripara and sold illegally.
Acting on the information, a team from Tejgaon Police Station conducted a raid in the area at around 1:45am on Sunday.
