West Indies are set to tour Bangladesh later this month for a white-ball series, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday confirmed the list of match officials for the six-match tour.
The series will feature three overseas officials, including one match referee and two on-field umpires. They will be joined by five Bangladeshi umpires throughout the tour.
England’s Dean Cosker will act as match referee for all six games in the series. Indian umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal and New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney will officiate as on-field umpires during the ODI leg of the series.
Among the local officials are ICC Elite Panel umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat, along with Masudur Rahman Mukul, Gazi Sohel, Tanvir Ahmed and Morshed Ali Khan.
The three-match ODI series, scheduled to be played entirely at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, begins on 18 October.
In the first ODI, Madanagopal and Gazi Sohel will serve as on-field umpires. Gaffaney and Tanvir Ahmed will officiate the second match on 21 October, while the third ODI on 23 October will see Madanagopal and Mukul as the on-field officials.
Gaffaney will serve as TV umpire for the first and third ODIs, with Tanvir Ahmed acting as fourth umpire. In the second ODI, Madanagopal will take on TV umpire duties while Gazi Sohel will be the fourth umpire.
The T20I series begins on 27 October in Chattogram, with the remaining two matches to be played on 29 and 31 October. All T20I matches will be officiated solely by Bangladeshi umpires.
In the first T20I, Gazi Sohel and Morshed Ali Khan will serve as on-field umpires, with Tanvir Ahmed and Mukul as third and fourth umpires respectively.
The second match will have Saikat and Morshed Ali Khan on-field, with Mukul as third umpire and Sohel as fourth.
In the final T20I, Saikat and Mukul will be on-field umpires, with Sohel and Morshed Ali Khan serving as third and fourth umpires.
The West Indies tour marks an important series in Bangladesh’s home calendar, and the blend of local and international officials reflects the event’s significance.
