Jamaat candidate Mohammad Shishir Monir visited the residence of BNP winner Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury with flowers and sweets, showing rare political courtesy after the 13th parliamentary election.
On Friday morning, Shishir Monir went to Chowdhury’s home in Derai Upazila of Sunamganj-2 constituency.
There, he greeted the senior politician and freedom fighter Nasir Uddin Chowdhury with floral wishes and offered him sweets.
Earlier on Thursday night, he congratulated Chowdhury through a post on his verified Facebook page.
As constituency-wise results showed Chowdhury leading by a large margin, Shishir Monir wrote around 8:30pm, “Congratulations to the winning BNP candidate in my constituency, Mr Nasir Uddin Chowdhury. Floral greetings to you.”
His gesture drew praise from different quarters for demonstrating political goodwill despite electoral defeat.
Shishir Monir personally met the veteran leader on Friday morning and conveyed his congratulations, reinforcing a message of mutual respect and democratic spirit following the election.
