Popular Pakistani TikTok creator Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gilamana, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers in Taxila on 14 August, according to a police complaint filed in connection with the case, reports One India.
According to her father, Fazal Sahibzada, Bibi received a phone call from a man identified as Kashish, alias Kashi, who allegedly asked her to come outside her home.
She then left in a car with her 15-year-old sister Asima and brother Naimatullah.
Naimatullah told police that when the vehicle approached a petrol pump, two unidentified men on a motorcycle came alongside the car and opened fire.
The attackers, believed to be aged between 30 and 35, allegedly fired several rounds at the vehicle. One bullet struck Bibi in the neck, killing her instantly.
The gunfire reportedly caused the driver to lose control of the car, which then collided with another vehicle.
Bibi’s younger sister Asima sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken for medical treatment.
Bibi had reportedly been creating TikTok videos for three to four years and had built a substantial following on the platform.
Following her death, her family deactivated her TikTok account.
Her brother Rahmatullah claimed that the account had accumulated between 30 million and 35 million likes and had more than one million followers.
Her death has since drawn attention among her followers and the wider Pakistani social media community.
Bibi’s family has alleged that a financial dispute may have been behind the killing.
According to her relatives, she had monetary dealings with individuals identified as Kausar and Javed, alias Shaheen, and had allegedly been demanding the return of money owed to her.
The family claimed that Bibi received death threats after seeking repayment and had previously filed a complaint in Islamabad over the matter.
Her father alleged that the killing could have been carried out by people involved in the financial dispute or by attackers acting on their instructions.
The family has also alleged that Kashi may have been involved in the incident.
Police are investigating the murder and the allegations made by Bibi’s family.
The motive and identities of the attackers have yet to be conclusively established.
