Actor and filmmaker Shahriah Nazim Joy has criticised content creator and actor Hero Alom after he announced his intention to contest the by-election in Thakurgaon-1 following former BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s nomination for the presidency.

Joy shared a lengthy post on social media, commenting on Hero Alom’s repeated attempts to enter politics and public life.

“Fortunately, he did not want to become president. The things he wants and aspires to may exist in many people’s minds. But he has no censorship. He openly expresses his thoughts, and those become news. The news is often made so people can laugh at him,” Joy wrote.

He added, “I had written before that no person is ever valued beyond their ability. Hero Alom has been valued according to his ability—nationwide. Not as an actor or content creator, but as a national figure of ridicule.”

Taking another swipe at Hero Alom, Joy wrote, “However, unfortunately for him, even in this position, he is not able to hold on to the number one spot. From Mamun-Laila to Mostak-Tisha and countless others, people are breathing down his neck. Competition is highest in this country. Even if someone wants to become a thief, it is difficult to be number one. The same applies if someone wants to be a saint.”

Joy concluded by referring to Hero Alom’s political activities, writing, “In a way, we have been saved. When Hero Alom was considered part of the cultural arena, we felt somewhat embarrassed. Now he is considered part of the political arena. Because wherever there is an election, he becomes a candidate.”
