Shah Rukh Khan attended a grand event in Mumbai alongside Danube Group founder and chairman Rizwan Sajan to unveil ‘Shahrukhz’, a landmark tower named in his honour, the first ever for an actor.
Hosted at a five-star hotel, the launch was designed to take place in India at Khan’s request.
He said, “I really wanted the event here, as this is where I come from. As the project takes shape, I hope it helps people’s lives grow beautifully and exponentially.”
Khan added, “My mother would be very happy. It’s a huge honour. When my kids visit, I’ll say, ‘Look, your father’s name is written here.’ I’ve gone through every detail of the building over the last two months. It’s state-of-the-art yet affordable, perfect for people starting out in Dubai.”
The actor delighted the audience with his signature pose, recreated his Don walk and delivered a famous Om Shanti Om dialogue. He later danced to ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ with Farah Khan and Rizwan Sajan.
The 56-storey project is expected to be completed in three to four years. A statue of Khan’s iconic arms-outstretched pose will stand at the entrance for visitors.
Explaining what drew him to the project, Khan said, “Rizwan wanted to build something for people arriving in Dubai with dreams of finding homes and starting businesses. If I can contribute or inspire them, that’s the greatest gift.”
