Bangladeshi filmmaker Shafayet Mansoor’s experimental AI-powered short film ‘Mind It’ has received an international nomination at OMNI 1.5 HYPERPHANTASIA, presented by Envato, adding to the film’s growing recognition on the global festival circuit.
The nomination follows the film’s recent success at Spain’s La Garriga Film Festival, where it won the Best Indie Film award. According to organisers, ‘Mind It’ was selected from more than 3,800 submissions from around the world.
The nomination is particularly notable because the competition’s jury panel included filmmaker Alex Proyas, known for directing ‘I, Robot’, ‘The Crow’ and ‘Dark City’, as well as artificial intelligence expert Professor Toby Walsh.
Reflecting on the achievement, Mansoor said the project was driven by experimentation rather than commercial objectives.
“What makes this special to me is that ‘Mind It’ was really a practical extension of my research into GenAI and immersive platforms,” he said.
“I never expected a small experimental project like this to travel this far. Funny how a casual experiment to vent my thoughts can sometimes end up taking you places you never expected.”
The nomination marks another milestone in the international journey of the short film, which continues to gain recognition beyond Bangladesh through its exploration of emerging technologies and creative storytelling.
