A total of 27 underprivileged women in Brahmanbaria’s Ashuganj Upazila have received sewing machines as part of an initiative aimed at making them self-reliant.
Meanwhile, sanitary napkins were distributed among 2,000 female students from 25 educational institutions to promote menstrual health awareness.
The distribution programme was held at the Ashuganj Upazila Parishad hall on Thursday afternoon, where Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rafe Mohammad Chhara presided over the event and handed over the sewing machines and sanitary napkins.
Speakers at the discussion included Ashuganj Press Club President Salim Parvez, upazila Livestock Officer Nurjahan Begum, upazila engineer Prithul Bhowmik, upazila Secondary Education Officer Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, upazila Youth Development Officer Nazma Begum and academic supervisor Sharifuzzaman.
Officials from different departments, beneficiaries and students attended the programme.
