Seven people, including men, women and a child from the same family, were injured after a speeding truck hit a stationary passenger vehicle on the Dhaka–Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj’s Sirajdikhan upazila.
A passenger-laden Noah vehicle was parked on the side of the expressway when a recklessly driven truck crashed into its rear with force. The impact badly damaged the back portion of the Noah.
The accident took place around 3am on Tuesday on the Kuchiamora Dhaleshwari Bridge area of the expressway. The southbound vehicle was stopped on the side line when the truck suddenly struck from behind.
Fire service officials said two units from Srinagar Fire Station rushed to the spot after receiving information. They rescued the injured and took them to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex using an ambulance for treatment.
The collision caused traffic congestion on the expressway. Police from Hashara Highway Police Station later brought the situation under control and restored normal traffic flow.
