Southeast University (SEU) hosted a seminar at its multipurpose hall on September 9, focusing on the critical role of rehabilitation in improving the lives of people with disabilities.
Valerie A Taylor, founder and coordinator of the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), has expressed her interest in working alongside SEU’s academics to develop cost-effective assistive technologies for people with disabilities in Bangladesh.
The seminar was chaired by SEU Vice Chancellor Professor Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, while Dr Hasnat M. Alamgir, director of the Institute of Research and Training, moderated the session.
The event brought together health professionals, educators, and development practitioners to discuss inclusive care solutions and the need for cross-sector collaboration in disability services.
Speakers and participants emphasised on the need of raising public awareness, strengthening policy frameworks and enhancing institutional cooperation to scale up rehabilitation services nationwide.
