Police have arrested a senior staff nurse at Chandpur Sadar Hospital in a rape case filed with the Cumilla Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
Md. Mehedi Hasan, 39, was detained from the hospital around 4:30pm on Saturday by Sub‑Inspector Alim of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station.
Hasan, son of Md Jahangir Mia of Fatepur Tulpai village in Kachua upazila, Chandpur, was working at Cumilla Medical College Hospital at the time of the alleged assaults.
He is currently employed at Chandpur Sadar Hospital.
The victim, a student at a local nursing institute, alleged that Hasan raped her several times between 2021 and 2025, leaving her ill and requiring hospital treatment.
The case is being investigated by Cumilla PBI.
Foyez Ahmed, officer‑in‑charge of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station said the accused will be produced before court.
